Bengaluru: India’s ambition to become the world’s leading hub for Global Capability Centers (GCCs) is gaining strong momentum, backed by progressive policy frameworks and a rapidly evolving business ecosystem. As per a recent report by NASSCOM, India’s GCC growth is being significantly accelerated through a mix of financial incentives, regulatory ease, and strategic infrastructure investments across multiple states.

The report underscores how state governments are actively rolling out targeted GCC policies to attract global enterprises. These include tax incentives, capital subsidies, plug-and-play infrastructure, and simplified compliance mechanisms. Such initiatives are reducing operational barriers and enabling multinational companies to establish and scale their GCC operations in India with greater speed and efficiency.

India currently hosts over 1,700 GCCs, and the focus is now shifting beyond cost arbitrage to innovation-led growth. Enterprises are increasingly leveraging India for high-value functions such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, cybersecurity, and product engineering. This transition reflects a broader evolution of GCCs from back-office support units to strategic global innovation hubs.

In comparison with other established GCC destinations like Singapore, Ireland, and Poland, India offers a unique combination of scale, talent depth, and policy-driven growth. The expansion of GCCs into emerging cities beyond traditional metros is further strengthening the country’s position, supported by state-level skilling initiatives and digital infrastructure development.

Industry experts believe this policy push is also reshaping talent demand. According to insights from Alp Consulting, organizations are witnessing a surge in demand for specialized digital skills, leadership hiring within GCCs, and flexible workforce models such as staff augmentation to support rapid scaling.

Commenting on the development, Kishore V N, Managing Director of Alp Consulting, said:

“India’s GCC ecosystem is evolving into a high-impact, innovation-driven environment. Policy support is acting as a catalyst, but the real differentiator is India’s ability to deliver skilled talent at scale. Going forward, GCCs will play a pivotal role in global business strategy, not just execution.”

With sustained policy support and increasing global interest, India is poised to enter the next phase of GCC growth, one defined by innovation, digital transformation, and global integration.
