Keeping compliance with distinct labour laws and regulations

- Logistics companies are to pay a minimum wage to all employees like drivers, warehouse workers and other personnel, that is set by the government and not lesser.
- Employees must be paid on time and as per the agreed terms.
- Considering employees earning a minimum wage, logistics companies are liable to contribute to their PF. Both employers and employees are to contribute to the PF.
- If your company has more that 10 workers, under the ESI scheme, as their employer you are liable to provide medical insurance under the ESI scheme for those employees who earn only a minimum amount.
- If you own a warehouse or provide warehousing services or have a distribution centre, then you must comply with the relevant standards of safety, health and welfare of workers.
- If your company is engaging with contract labours, its mandatory to register under this act and comply with the rules, making sure the contractors are paid fairly and are provided with the right working environment.
Tax Compliance

- TDS deductions are to be made on payments made to contractors, transporters and other service providers.

- If your company is dealing with food grains, fertilizers or petroleum products, then there are guidelines that you must follow wherein you are not supposed to exceed a storage limit and must comply with licensing requirements.

Health and Safety Regulations

-
As a company in the logistics industry, responsible for workers at all levels you must ensure the safety and well-being of the workers, particularly those in warehouses and transportation roles. Adequate safety gear, training, and compliance with health and safety norms are essential.
